If you can’t afford a dream holiday this year for financial reasons, don’t despair. You do not need to earn thousands to borrow a visit to a dream destination. All you need to do is make your finances a little more reasonable, start saving today and enjoy a sunny day anywhere in the world. But how to do it and where to start? Get inspired by our tips
Set your goal and budget
Start by setting an approximate budget for your next year’s holiday. This, of course, depends on the particular country, the number of days you want to spend in it, and the activities you want to experience. We recommend that you do a little research in advance. Find out how much you pay for common foods, transportation, accommodation, trips. Remember, it is always better to set your budget a little higher to be sure of enough funding until the end of your holiday.
Mark your expenses
By next summer you have enough time to save. However, you should know your expenses , so find a moment and write them out on paper. This will give you an insight into how much money you have, how much you can earn over a period of time, and how much your livelihood costs. Which expenses are the highest? How much do you spend on rent, energy, mobile or internet invoices? What about food and transport? Definitely do not miss out-of-home eating, cinemas, trips, entertainment or shopping. If you want to have a complete overview of your expenses, use modern apps where you can mark every load or income. If your earnings are less than spending, it’s time to review them. Read on.
Get rid of unnecessary costs
This section is key. Take a look at the list of expenses and divide them into two groups. The first includes the inevitable cost of life , the second one that makes you happy. Just from the second group you should eliminate as many items as possible. You’ll see it’s worth it! We have been most successful in limiting catering in restaurants, which you can reduce for a nice dinner with friends or family. We exchanged lunch in the restaurants for lunch prepared at home and we also saved the “joking” in the city. After all, the “home” party is worth it :). It will also help if you get rid of impulsive shopping and only buy what you use on your planned holiday. During the weekends, concentrate on activities that don’t cost you anything, such as sports, hiking in the area or a picnic in the park instead of those that will burden your budget (cinema, restaurants, festivals).
Separate your savings
Start a savings bank where you put your savings aside. In addition to saving you the savings process, you can also enjoy interest . Determine the exact amount you will regularly postpone to this savings account (for example, € 50, even if you can start saving from € 10 a month). Do not reach this account, it will be for one purpose only – holiday 2020. If you are concerned that you could forget about regular savings in addition to all the levies, set up a standing order , ideally after the payout, when the “outflow” of money from the account is the least .
Get extra money
You don’t have to look right after your second job. For example, try selling things you don’t use or need at popular online bazaars. If you are skilled, you can also sell your own products in the same places.
Stick to the plan
We know that saving money is not always easy. It requires discipline and reluctance to deny some joys. However, if you have a specific goal, it is a little easier. Of course, everything is not always like butter and life has prepared situations for us, which are associated with unexpected expenses. However, there is no need to give up, on the contrary, continue the steps that will lead you to a dream. It is up to you to make your decisions, so remind yourself of what you are doing with every step or temptation. For example, your reward will be a long-term holiday with a family or a close person.
